Lactalis hires three Ken-Ton area residents

Lactalis American Group has hired five new employees to work at its U.S. corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility, three of whom live in the Ken-Ton area.

The Buffalo-based manufacturer announced last week that Town of Tonawanda residents Andrew Burke and Cindy Cornell, as well as Village of Kenmore resident Cynthia Marek, will join its workforce, along with Buffalo residents Edgar Achury and Edwina Kwiatkowski.

Burke has been named director of transportation, and will be responsible for sourcing transportation services to support LAG’s domestic transportation requirements. Most recently, Burke worked as Ingram Micro’s senior transportation manager. He holds a master’s degree in geography, international trade and world commerce, as well as a bachelor’s degree, from the University at Buffalo.

Cornell will serve as supervisor of the company’s ricotta production team. She has approximately seven years of supervisory experience in food/dairy with a background in safety, quality and sanitation, and has completed a dairy science certificate program through Cornell University. She most recently worked as operations supervisor for HP Hood.

Marek has been hired as a senior buyer of ingredients for LAG’s purchasing team, and will work with plant facilities in the U.S. and Canada to provide purchasing support. Most recently, Marek was a purchasing/scheduling manager at Mayer Bros. She holds a bachelor’s degree in production planning from the SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology.
